Pokemon Pokeball Krispie Treats
Pokemon has taken over our house! Our kids are loving it. We watch the old show, a new show, and they love Pokemon Go!
Emmalee has been asking for everything Pokemon, especially Tink-a-chu. Oh that's not his name? Don't care. She calls Pikachu Tink-a-chu and I think it's adorable.
Anyways, she asked for some Pokemon treats and I wasn't quite sure what to do but my eye caught the box of krispie rice cereal on our counter and I knew what I wanted to make!
To make them, I utilized a super easy krispie rice cereal recipe:
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
1 10 oz bag of marshmallows
1 tsp vanilla
6 cups Toasted Rice cereal
Melt butter and marshmallows together on low heat.
Remove from heat, add in vanilla.
Add cereal and mix well until well mixed.
Instead of using a 13 x 9 pan, I used a large 22 x 36 inch cookie sheet, but any size works, it will just change the thickness of the treats. Press flat! I used wax paper and a rolling pin to really smush the treats together and flatten it out. I aimed for 1/2" thickness.
Using a circle cookie cutter, cut as many circles as you can. I used a few different sizes and was able to get a lot of circle treats.
Put circle cut treats onto a cookie sheet and refrigerate for one hour.
You will also need:
1 bag of Wilton candy melts, red
1 bag of Wilton candy melts, white
1 bag of Wilton candy melts, black
After the hour, but before removing the treats from the refrigerator, melt the white candy melts using the microwave or a double broiler.
Remove circle krispie treats and dip half of the treat into the white chocolate. Save the leftover melted white candy melts!
Return to cookie sheet. After all have been dipped, return to the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
In the meantime, in a second bowl or double broiler, melt the red candy melts using the microwave or a double broiler.
Remove the krispie treats from the fridge and dip the uncoated side in the melted red candy melts.
Remove excess candy melts and return to the cookie sheet. Return to refrigerator for another 20 minutes.
In a small bowl, melt 2 cups of black candy melts. Transfer into a piping bag or ziploc bag and snip the corner.
Remove the krispie treats from the fridge and pip a small black circle in the middle, with a line coming off each side, between the red and white candy melts (see photo above!).
Reheat the excess white candy melts and add a small dot of white candy melts in the center of the black circle.
Return to the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Be sure to eat within 3 days, as if they'll last that long....
Gotta catch em all!
