25 Things to do with Your Kids in Massachusetts Before School Starts Again

Can you even believe it's August already? That means it's the last month of summer. In 26 short days, I'll be back at work for another school year. I curated 25 great ideas that can each be done in one day! So make as many more memories as you can before it's time to send those kids back to school!

New England Summer vacation ideas in Massachusetts

1. Assonet / Freetown State Park Splash Pad

2. Boston Children's Museum

3. Visit a waterfront - Plymouth, Newport, and New Bedford are a few of our favorites! Be sure to grab a lobster roll from Woods Seafood or Gene's Seafood!

4. Buttonwood Park Zoo

5. Edaville USA - you can check out our most recent trip here!

6. Children's Museum of Easton

7. Watch a Drive in movie - check out Mendon or North Smithfield, RI.

8. Go camping for the night - I'm dying to check out Normandy Farms.

9. Roger Williams Park Zoo - you can check out when we met the Easter Bunny there!

10. See a movie for cheap during the day! - I'm in love with the newly redone AMC theaters.  They have reclining chairs, seat delivery of snacks and drinks, and our local one even has a bar! Okay, maybe you don't need the bar at 11 am, but you can score tickets under $6 at many places if you see a show before 12 or 1!

11. Canobie Lake Park

12. Fenway Park Tour - literally the cheapest way to see the park!

13. The Providence Children's Museum

14. Southwick Zoo

15. Blueberry Picking - Find your local places here.

16. New England Aquarium

17. Take a Pirate Cruise with Plymouth Cruises Aboard Lobster Tales

18. Capron Park Zoo and Splash Pad

19. Santa's Village - check out our recent visit here!

20. Story Land

21. Eric Carle Museum

22. Six Flags New England

23. Go on a picnic or grab an ice cream cone for the park.

24. Travel up the Cape and maybe spend the night! - Our favorites are mini-golf, ice cream and spending the night at Eastwood or at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel!

25. Check out a local library - Our local one in Acushnet just got a great new home! While you're at the library, see what they offer for free or discounted park and museum passes because our local library offers free and discounted passes to many of the places on this list!

So there you go!
Something to do every day until it's time to go back to school! What are your favorite local summer activities?

xo, Heather
