Warren Park, Wellesley

We found another great playground! Warren Park in Wellesley was a great find for us after grabbing lunch in Wellesley. Situated in a great fenced in area with lots of trees and picnic tables, the playground offered us more than an hour of running around time. A quick sandwich picnic before the rain and we had a great afternoon!

Warren Park can be found at 90 Washington St Wellesley.  There is ample free parking in the lot and on street as well.

The Cape Codder Resort

I'm going to say it, this summer has been hard.  With Coronavirus closing most things, and most plans going out the window, it's made summer a bit more boring than normal. It's crazy to think but my girl is now 9 which means, I'm already half way done with the summers we have together before she's an "adult" and off working etc. Honestly, that makes me so sad. I want every summer to be special. It's a big part of why I took a teaching job and left the restaurant industry; I wanted more time with my kids. Even though Coronavirus has changed our summer, I refused to let it end our good times.

I was especially excited when the Cape Codder Resort sent me an email offering a discount and highlighting the great socially distanced way they were opening back up: reduced capacity, extra cleaning, and takeaway orders from the hotel restaurant. I figured if I brought some disinfectant and sanitizer, we could stay safe, and even still distance, while having some fun.

Check in was a breeze, with no one else in the lobby, although there was spacing of 6 feet on the ground, as well as signage requiring masks and imploring people to make healthy decisions. The room was beautiful and perfect for us. But it was the pool that really helped it feel like summer again.

The kids LOVED the indoor water park.  We were able to go down the lazy river and play in the kids area, complete with small water slides and splash areas. The on duty lifeguards were wonderful and the snack bar was a great quick bite when they were hungry but not yet ready to leave!

Getting some safe, socially distanced vacationing in brought back a bit of that normalcy we were missing and I can't recommend it enough!

Be sure to check out the Cape Codder Resort website for deals and upcoming availability!

Sherborn Playground

What happens when you go looking for ice cream and end up in Sherborn and your phone map shows the Sherborn playground only 100 feet away? Well, you find a new playground that you love.

Completely fenced in (with a Free Little Library!), it's a great playground for both kids.  While there is a smaller play structure for smaller kids, mine love the bigger structure that has a rock wall of sorts! It's Emma's favorite.  Tyler enjoys "steering the ship" and spinning on the tire swing.

The whole playground is great for imaginary play; I especially love the theater area and the "farmer's market".

The Sherborn Playground can be found at Cemetary Lane, Sherborn, conveniently right down the street from C&L Frosty, which has delicious food and ice cream!

John J Lane Park, Natick

Finding this park was just luck really.  We didn't realize how great it would be.  Again, we were looking for Free Little Libraries so we could get more books and there is a small library right at the entrance to the park!

The park itself is great! It is almost in the shape of an oval with some extra paths stemming off it.  In addition to the climbing "rocks", there is a play structure, swings, and a volleyball court.  The covered pavilion was great for a rest out of the sun, but Tyler and I were content just laying in the grass in the field. Our favorite part was the "exercise area" in the back.  It was a great area to work on our box jumps and pull ups.

There is also a path that goes up to an outdoor "theater". At the bottom of the hill, there's a very large community garden too!

It's a great space to bring the kids for the afternoon and we'll be there even more this summer!

John J Lane Park is located at 158 Speen St in Natick. Parking is free and the restrooms are open from April to October. Additionally, the park is a carry in, carry out venue- there are no trash cans so be cognizant of your trash!

Yogis Cafe, Plymouth, MA

What's better than "beach food" at an outdoor restaurant in the middle of summer? Emma says "nothing!"

We found ourselves at Yogi's Cafe in Plymouth Ma and oh man was it delicious! Located steps away from the Mayflower and in the heart of downtown Plymouth, Yogi's currently offers walk up dining service with picnic tables to enjoy your food at.

I grabbed a lobster roll while the kids enjoyed their ice cream alongside their candy from Plimouth Candy Company!

The views of the water were a perfect accompaniment to our lunch and it was so nice to just sit outside and enjoy the great weather.  I won't lie, we definitely walked over to Cupcake Charlies for a post snack, snack!

I love spending the day walking through downtown Plymouth and stopping at Yogi's Cafe for lunch is now a new favorite place for us!

Yogi's Cafe can be found at 80 Water St in Plymouth Ma.
