Wooden Playroom Toys from Svan

Did you see this instagram post two weeks ago?

Over school vacation, we worked hard on our basement playroom! We (read: I) really wanted a place where the kids' toys were so that they didn't have stuff everywhere. I'll admit, there are still toys everywhere, but less, so that's better right? While it's not completely done, it is what we need for now.

We spent the whole day reorganizing our stuff, and bought a huge piece of carpet from Lowe's to warm up the floor.  The we made a plan. I knew we'd need shelving for the toys, but we decided on having a dress up area, a playhouse, a train table area, and a kitchen/store area.  The two kids gravitate towards play kitchens and stores so I knew I wanted that to be the big focus.

Thursday, I'll be sharing how I made the canopied kitchen area and the kitchen set, but today I wanted to focus on a couple of the really wonderful toys we stocked the store with!

I ran across Svan Toys at Toy Fair and just fell in love. I love wooden toys. There's just something so nostalgic about them and when they are constructed from all natural wood, use non-toxic paint and BPA-free materials and are fully compliant with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards, I am that much more in love with them! And honestly, I just think they look better than the plastic molded food.

Emma is constantly pretending to make us ice cream sundaes and have tea parties so I knew the Ice Cream Shop and Dessert Tower would be her favorites.

The Dessert Tower contains 15 pieces, including the most adorable dessert treats and two tea cups, saucers, and teaspoons. The two tier stand is so classy for a little lady tea party!

I also love the Ice Cream Shop! In addition to the perfect little stand, the set includes 3 popsicles, 3 ice cream cones, and 3 adorably decorated scoops of ice cream that connect to the cone magnetically.  The included ice cream scoop allows the little ones to serve me ice cream!

The popsicles were a quick favorite!

I can't wait to show you the rest of the basement and how we made the canopied kitchen area! Check back on Thursday for a full basement update and in the meantime, you can grab either the Dessert Stand or Ice Cream Shop, and lots more Svan toys, at Amazon as well!
